TOYBOX Returns to the Austin Wellness Fair!

On Wednesday, October 22, the TOYBOX team participated in the 2025 Pine Creek Preschool Fair in Austin, Manitoba!

This year, our special friend Nume came along to explore seven exciting learning stations: Vision (seeing), Audiology (hearing), Language (speech), Therapy (OT/PT), Gym Activities, and Literacy & Numeracy. Children received an event passport card to collect stickers from each station. The TOYBOX team hosted the Literacy and Numeracy stations, where families were invited to learn about their children’s developmental stages in letters and numbers.  

Literacy Booth:

The TOYBOX Literacy room was alive with colourful upper- and lowercase letters spread across the tables, inviting children to build their very own “letter train.” As they lined up the alphabet, children proudly named each letter and pronounced its sound. We were excited to watch how different children were learning about letters! This playful testing helped parents to see that their children can be exposed to letters and sounds at home.  

Numeracy Booth:

The TOYBOX Numeracy room welcomed children with colourful toy bears! Children were excited to hear the story about the farmer and the bears, finishing the number story by counting each bear and saying the total. This number activity demonstrated that numbers can be learned in a playful and exciting way.  

After children had collected all the stickers from each booth, they took their passport cards home as a reminder of the learning, and they received an TOYBOX Animal Activity package, which included toy animals native to Manitoba! Seeing all the children go home with smiles, Nume’s smile shone brightly—already looking forward to the next Pine Creek Preschool Fair!
