On Sunday, September 27, TOYBOX Manitoba, along with UWSA Daycare, UW Numeracy Development & Learning Lab (NDL), and UW Let’s Talk Science, gathered in Tent 14 at the Teddy Bear Picnic! Children and their parents/caregivers lined up to see what interesting things were waiting for them inside the tent.

TOYBOX greeted children and families with free bubbles and invited them to make their own special stress balls using their favourite balloon colour. We encouraged children to practice counting while they scooped sand with a spoon. Some older children enjoyed a guessing game: “How many scoops of sand will it take to fill the balloon?”
Other tables were also filled with lots of engaging activities for children to enjoy, such as numbered colouring pages and a fishing game from NDL, as well as eye-opening science experiments from Let’s Talk Science. Glitter tattoos were a great bonus that made many children’s days brighter and shinier!

While all the fun activities were happening inside the tent, TOYBOX mascots, Litty and Nume, also visited the site with their cute stuffed animals. Children gave high-fives, took family pictures, and even chatted about their favourite stuffed animals! Many smiles, laughs, and memories were shared throughout the day. We are sincerely thankful to the Children’s Hospital Foundation for inviting us to this wonderful event.
