TOYBOX at U of W's Inquiry & Impact Presentation 2026
At the end of August, Camryn and James were supported by Hephzibah in presenting TOYBOX’s most recent research at The University of Winnipeg’s Inquiry and Impact: 2026 Student Research Recognition Event!

Over the past year, our team has been hard at work collecting observation notes about children’s engagement with the TOYBOX intervention. At the Inquiry and Impact research event, we shared our progress in developing a way organize our observation notes, with the goal of gaining a better understanding of why our Numeracy intervention program is working to improve children’s numeracy knowledge. So far, we are off to a great start!
This research provides us with insight into the learning strategies that are important for early numeracy development. Using the observation notes research, we will be able to explore how different methods of numeracy evaluation capture children’s learning. In the future, we hope to extend this research to include our Literacy and Wellness groups!

During the event, we had the opportunity to connect with our University of Winnipeg community and learn about the many research projects conducted by fellow students in the Humanities and Social Sciences!
We would like to extend a special thank you to Dylan Jones and the University of Winnipeg Student Research Committee for the opportunity to carry out this important research.
