TOYBOX at The UWSA's Roll Call!

September 3-4, 2025

The TOYBOX team came in ready to roll into the school year by attending the University of Winnipeg Students' Association Roll Call event! We were able to meet wonderful students and discuss TOYBOX.

Nume meeting new friends!

We had a special guest join the TOYBOX team during the event … NUME! Everyone that walked by or stopped at the table greeted Nume and took pictures with them!

TOYBOX discussed our previous studies that we recently presented at 3 different conferences this summer. The Assessment and Instruction in Mathematics (AIM), the Mathematics Cognition and Learning Society (MCLS) and Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE). We also had an Instagram contest that gave away 2 Walmart gift cards to two lucky winners!

Taylor's Reflection:

Attending the roll call table gave a great opportunity to connect to fellow students about TOYBOX and how they can get involved. Seeing the engagement with our character Nume was the highlight of this event, as they were a huge hit and furthered our discussions about TOYBOX and our origins.

Wynonna's Reflection:

At Roll Call people heard about the TOYBOX project and learned about the ways that they can get involved; either through time or skills! Most people spoke two or more languages and even had experience working with children. I appreciate the many wonderful folks who signed up for our volunteer list.
