Six TOYBOX team members were invited to attend Oak Street Nursery School’s annual summer picnic. Here, families of the Oak Street Nursery gathered to celebrate the start of summer with a fun, outdoor day at the park! We were greeted by a warm, sunny day at the park!
TOYBOX provided two activity tables for the children and their families on top of all the games and activities from the daycare. At one table we had a face painting station where we took requests ranging from cats and dogs to butterflies and flowers. At the other table we had a TOYBOX gardening activity where the kids could plant a bean seed in a small container that they could take home. We also provided families with a TOYBOX sheet with numeracy, literacy and wellness activities that go along with plants and gardening.

This event was exciting because it was one of our first exhibitions of the Nume mascot! Nume was a success and very popular with the kids. Despite the high temperature, Nume was able to spend some time giving high fives and running around with the kids. As soon as Nume came out, they attracted quite the crowd and the group quickly lost interest in the other activities.
This picnic was a fun experience to bring TOYBOX out into the world and share it directly with the kids that it benefits. It was a great day to be outside and have fun in the sun! We look forward to future events with the Oak Street Nursery School and especially touring our new Nume mascot around!
