On May 26, TOYBOX made another meaningful visit to Frontenac School to share joy with families and children. This month, we delivered our TOYBOX Animal Activity Kit. The kit included toy figures of Manitoba animals, along with a description of playful learning activities for families to try together.

Children chose their favourite colours of clay to stamp the toy animals’ feet into. They had so much fun recognizing and naming each animal, comparing footprint sizes with their peers, and making each animal’s unique sounds. Before long, many children had formed a special attachment to their toy animals! One girl even placed hers on a toy truck to give the animals a tour of the family room.

Parents and caregivers also shared their meaningful stories about their experiences with animals. Children’s ears were all open to listen to the stories. One caregiver shared a story of her encountering a moose “bigger than a truck while travelling on a road trip in Canada! We also encouraged families to explore and try different ways of engaging with children through animal-themed literacy, numeracy, and wellness stories and games.
TOYBOX is looking forward to the next visit to Frontenac School. Thank you, Kyla and all families, for your warm welcome. See you again!
