Multiplication as Repeated Addition

Multiplication can be described as repeated addition because it involves grouping one number multiple times. Have fun grouping food items, toys, and other objects to show the relationship between addition and multiplication!

For example, 3 groups of 4 balloons makes a total of 12 balloons.

This can be represented by the number sentences 4+4+4 and 3×4.

Similarly, 4 groups of 3 bears also makes a total of 12.

This can be represented by the number sentences 3+3+3+3 and 4×3.
